As per Hind tradition, yagya is performed by a devotee to reach closer to God. In ancient times, rishis performed yagya and made offerings into a consecrated fire. Fire is created in a havan kund, which is the central place where all the offerings are made. Ghee, guggal, sugar, honey and herbal preparations are offered to the sacred fire along with chanting of Vedic mantras. Havan has a purifying effect on the devotee as well the environment. It re-energises one’s chakras and has a revitalising effect on the body and mind.
